1. Islam is a religion of peace sent down by God to his prophet muhammad (saaws) to preach to all the people.
2. Its message is to worship god to get into heaven.
3. probably so student who are curios could learn about this religion.
4. everyone studies islam in my country muslim and non muslim.
Islam is a monotheistic religion whose main focus is obidience to God and living a rigteous/virtous life.
Its message is one of peace, uderstanding and purity.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, despite the negative feedback of the "western view." To change that view, this course is a necessity, so as to do away with ignorance.
In my country, Pakistan, Islam is taught, the way it should be taught. Through showing a love of the religion and practicing it openly. In the US its hard to get time to pray Jummah, but in Pakistan, the whole country basically closes down to pray not only Jummah, but all 5 salats of the day.

1. Islam is one of the many religions of the world, known because of its peace. As Laith said, Muhaammad was sent to preach of Islam to all people.
2. I believe Islam is a peaceful religion, trying to put everyone in the right direction in life.
3. Islamic scriptures is given at Bergen Community College because all religions are offered here. I'm sure many students are curious about other religions, this gives them the opportunity to find out everything they may want to know.
4. Of course the Islamic religion is looked at differently in the Middle East. My family, being from Jordan, values the religious beliefs much higher than that of people living in America.
I learned many things my first week in this class. One of the most special things about this class is seeing other young people passionate about their religion; they care for it, they are knowledgable of it, and they love it.
Islam is one of the three Abrahamic religions; it is a monotheistic religion started by the Prophet Muhammad. Islam literally means peace and to surrender one's self to God; once someone knows what Islam literally means, they already know a little about the religion. Its message is one of peace and obedience to God, the Creator of all things.
I think "Islamic Scriptures" is being offered as a course at Bergen Community College because there is an obviously strong desire to learn more about the culture and religion. Since there has been more attention drawn to Islam largely due to negative reasons, people assume and make up things. We have got to break that barrier of ignorance.
Lastly, I cannot comment on whether or not the study of Islam would be approached different in
my country as I am from America.
Islam is a religion of truth. It is a religion of that establishes with firm belief that Allah is one without any partners and Muhamad (S) is his messenger.
The message of Islam is peace and the right that Allah swt has to be worshipped.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and its interesting the innate fitra of everyone human being to worship one God and that is why many people was turning to Islam.
Islam is looked differently in every country. The thing is being born and raised in the United States I dont really know any other way of life. Alhumduliah, I consider myself to be relgious and seeing the blessings that Allah swt has given me only makes me want to share the knowledge of Islam to everyone. Sometimes it is hard to practice Islam but if you are strong in your faith then no one can push you down. You need to strong in your knowledge and strong in your faith to taste the sweetness of Eman.
1. What is Islam? Islam is a monotheistic religion, it means submission to God.
2. What is its message? Its message is peace and the belief in one God whose Messenger is Muhammad SAW.
3. Why is "Islamic Scriptures" offered as a course of study in your institution? As other scriptures, to be a part of the diversity courses, for students to understand what this religion and others are all about.
4. Would the study of Islam be approached differently in your country? Yes, mainly because it is an Islamic country, it would be approached with more emphasis on understanding what Islam is all about. We may be born Muslim, but many of us arent aware of what Islam truly is.
