WEEK 2B: Four Surahs Commentary, due 2/2/06 by 5:00 p.m.

Read the surahs assigned in class (114, 113, 112, 111) . Comment on them as a whole, in relation to Surah Alfatihah (The Opening). Your discussion must also relate to what you have learned so far, as well as -- most importantly -- your own cultural background. The suras are:

114: Mankind
113: Dawn
112: Sincerity
111: The Flame

Excellent commentary and cross-cultural perspective, Melissa. The sura Al Fatihah also talked about the "path of righteousness" one must take. Perhaps one could comment on this in light of the "material world" we inhabit.
